Challenge

On-Premises Workloads: The customer had production servers hosted in Equinix DC and on-premises, which required a reliable disaster recovery solution to ensure the continuity of critical business operations.

Existing EMC Solution: The current EMC recovery point solution had limitations or insufficient capabilities to meet the customer’s evolving disaster recovery requirements. It had become essential to explore alternative solutions that offer enhanced features and scalability.

Business Continuity: The customer needed a robust disaster recovery solution that could minimize downtime and data loss during a disaster event, ensuring uninterrupted business operations and minimizing the impact on customers and stakeholders.

Solution

Druva Phoenix’s Disaster Recovery Module: By leveraging Druva Phoenix’s Disaster Recovery module, the customer could achieve comprehensive data protection and disaster recovery capabilities. This module offers features such as continuous backup, replication, and recovery for on-premises workloads.

Seamless Transition: Since the customer was already a consumer of Druva’s services, extending their usage to include the Disaster Recovery module allowed for a seamless transition to a cloud-based DR infrastructure. This bypassed the need for significant changes or disruptions to the existing setup.

Robust Data Protection: Replicating on-premises workloads to the AWS Cloud through Druva Phoenix ensured robust data protection. AWS provides a reliable and scalable infrastructure with high availability and fault tolerance, minimizing the risk of data loss and downtime.

Quick Recovery: In the event of a disaster, the replicated workloads in the AWS Cloud could be quickly recovered, enabling rapid restoration of critical systems and applications. This helped to meet the defined recovery time objectives (RTO) and minimize the impact on business operations.

Potential Replacement of EMC Solution: The proposed solution could potentially replace the existing EMC recovery point solution, offering a more efficient and cost-effective alternative with enhanced features and scalability.

Business Continuity: By implementing the DRaaS solution with Druva Phoenix and AWS Cloud, the customer could ensure business continuity. The solution provided robust data protection, quick recovery, and the ability to maintain operations during a disaster event.

VPN Connectivity: The proposed solution on AWS Cloud included VPN connectivity, enabling users to access their applications securely in the event of a DR invocation. This ensured that employees can continue their work without disruption, even when the primary infrastructure is affected.

Success Metrics

The proposed solution leveraging Druva Phoenix’s Disaster Recovery module and AWS Cloud offered the customer a comprehensive, scalable, and cost-effective disaster recovery solution. This ensured seamless data transition, robust protection and rapid recovery, minimizing downtime and maximizing business continuity. Secure VPN access, optimized costs and simplified management further enhanced the solution, with strict adherence to compliance and security regulations.
