Cloud Kinetics and AWS recently hosted an exclusive closed-door event for the tech-savvy CXO community in Kolkata. The event, held at the Park Hotel, saw a packed house with over 65 guests in attendance. Speakers from Cloud Kinetics and AWS addressed the event and spoke extensively on the topic for the day – “Migration to Cloud – Enterprise IT Plan”.
Chirag Nayyar, Lead Sales for Kolkata from CK, kicked off the event with his welcome note. Chirag reminisced about how CK entered the Kolkata market with a similar event in 2016. He welcomed all the attendees and encouraged them take up any offers that AWS & CK would provide during the event.
Karthik Santhanam, Founder & CTO of CK, then took over from Chirag. He briefed the gathering on CK’s story so far – from inception in 2012 through the path CK and AWS had travelled together. He presented the key offerings from CK, the specific offering in Digital Transformation and Cloud Migration. Karthik also gave a glimpse of the Digital Suite of Platforms that CK have indigenously built, the ARCUS™ suite, which helps Enterprises manage their Cloud Assets, Digital Assets and Media Assets. He also mentioned the list of marquee customers that CK have ranging across the globe.
Chandra Balani, Head of Geographic Incubation (India & SAARC), took over from Karthik and provided the gathering a wonderful insight on the journey of AWS. Right from the way Amazon had moved the world from a traditional shopping experience to a disruptive online shopping experience, the way Amazon invented new stuff that was innovative & disruptive to how AWS was born, Chandra enthralled the audience with facts that were hard to push over. He also provided key insights on how AWS chooses a location for setting up their Data Centre, how they provide Availability Zones and the pace with which AWS invents new services as well as adds key features to existing services. Chandra offered the gathering to reach out to CK with their key problem and the top 5 would be offered a funded POC from AWS.
CK invited Aloke Majumder, Head of Technology for another key customer to share his experience on AWS. Aloke indicated how the swiftness of AWS helped his team gain the confidence to commence their new OTT platform on AWS. Aloke and his team had always been limited by the availability and ability of local DC. Now with AWS in picture, Aloke indicated that he doesn’t ever worry about the capacity and would be happy to provide approvals even while attending events such as this one.
Kirthivasan, Head of Delivery, took over at this juncture and presented the CK approach to Cloud Migration. Kirthi spoke about the 5 facets of CK’s approach, the analysis carried out for each application modelled on the basis of 6R approach of AWS and the typical timeline for a DC migration with the nuances that CK follows diligently. Kirthi then provided the audience with the features available in the ARCUS™ CMP and the offering that CK provides around DevOps. Post this, Kirthi presented the case studies of key projects that CK had executed from inception ranging from Cloud Migration to OTT platform support for a large global media house to Big Data, ML implementations on AWS to Enterprise Applications to AWS Connect, the IVR solution from AWS. Kirthi also invited, Mr. Avishek Das, Head of Technology of another key customer to share his experience of AWS and CK.
Avishek started off by mentioning the way their AWS account, that was then in the Singapore Region, had to be migrated to AWS Mumbai owing to the restriction of disallowing data to be stored outside India. CK was managing their AWS workloads and had come up with a detailed planning which spread the migration over a period of 4 weeks. The benefit of migrating to AWS Mumbai was a straightforward reduction in the monthly AWS bills coupled with the advantage of allowing their end users (general public) to access the application/website within India with a reduced latency. The meticulous planning and execution from CK ensured that there was no disruption in their service. Avishek mentioned to the audience that the ARCUS™ CMP platform was such a big asset to his team that the key player from his team had actually stopped using the AWS Console and had given up his credentials to use only the ARCUS™ CMP platform.
The evening then wound down with a couple of questions from the audience ranging around the marketing plan from CK. The guests then enjoyed the remainder of the evening with cocktails and dinner.
